OFF Line Co. Ltd., releases world’s first proximity-based low energy Bluetooth communication application

Off Line Corporation (Tokyo, Shinagawa-ku; Koichi Ishizuka, President and CEO) releases AirTalk (iOS version) the world’s first proximity-based Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) smartphone communication application. Japanese and English language versions are supported in the initial release.

AirTalk allow users to create a Wi-Fi and BLE-based ad-hoc mesh network with a 110 yard (100m) radius independent of an internet or data connection.

AirTalk has achieved speeds 10X faster than existing BLE iBeacon applications. In addition, the service automatically updates user’s Bluetooth ID once every five minutes as a robust security features. (AirTalk Beacon Technology)

While AirTalk aims to be the de facto solution for close-distance P2P communication, the in-house developed software natively calculates relative distances between users and can thus effectively be used in times of natural disaster when regular telephone and internet services become interrupted; this is very helpful in earthquake-prone Japan.

Future iterations of AirTalk will include native support for OFF Line Corporation’s recent acquisition, Photozou, Japan’s largest photography-focused SNS with over 3.3 million active web-based users and 2.3 million smartphone-based users.

In an effort to spur next generation location-based advertising and ad delivery, further integration between Photozou and AirTalk will be continually explored.

The growing interest in location-based advertising will promote business alliances between services like AirTalk and established SNS. Sequential service updates will thus include Chinese, French, Portuguese, etc., language support in an effort to aggressively expand into the global market.

Further updates will include individual messaging functions and a social gaming platform.

OFF Line Corporation is committed to reinventing close range communications and will spare no effort in creating the highest value service for our customers.
